Children’s Rehabilitation Foundation is preparing for a leadership transition as current Executive Director, Jane Kidd-Hantscher, has provided her intention to retire in June 2026. Her planned retirement next year is the culmination of a nearly thirty-five-year career in our province’s private, public and non-profit sectors.
Jane was hired by the board in 2021 with the objectives of continuing to build awareness of the Foundation including its collaborative relationship to the Rehabilitation Centre for Children, increase revenue, nurture existing relationships with supporters and families and develop new partnerships. During her tenure and with the support of an outstanding team, CRF successfully reimagined its Signature Events following the pandemic, strengthened and grew third-party events including the Tim Hortons Smile Cookie campaign, and achieved increased grant support for the organization. In fiscal year 2024/25, the Foundation achieved its highest ever annual revenue, $2.2 million, and invested a record $1.24 million in its mission – improving the lives of children who access services through RCC and the SSCY Centre.
Summit Search Group has been retained by the Foundation to assist in the recruitment of the next Executive Director. To ensure continuity for donors, partners, and staff, the successful candidate will join the organization as the Senior Operating Officer for a planned multi-month overlap. They will onboard while serving in a transitional capacity and in partnership with Jane, the Board, and team. Following this transition period, the incumbent will assume full Executive Director responsibilities. This approach provides a thoughtful runway for knowledge transfer across fundraising, operations, finance/budget planning, major events and the integral relationship with RCC, positioning the next leader to step into the role with confidence.
